The first weekend in April my mom and sister Sarah came to town for my sis-in-law's baby shower. Lauren and my mom "chalking"
what's going on out here?
I like to chalk too!
the girls first ferris wheel ride - Lauren loved it
and Claire-Bear wasn't too thrilled
The next weekend, I planted my first garden. Tyler tilled up the grass/soil for me. This patch is actually about 6 feet by 25 feet. I planted three tomatoes, two cucumbers, six okra, six squash and six zucchini plants. There was a seperate patch over by the wheelbarrow for my three watermelon plants.
Lauren is really turning into my big helper. I try to encourage this and always find something for her to do. She helps me cook dinner every night.

March update (not including Easter)
In mid February, I stopped watching Bazzy and Corbin, so in March, I started swapping kids with my friend Erica. She has three children, and we try to swap one day a week. Someone in my MOPS group gave me Amish fiendship bread, so every ten days this month, I was baking bread. Here are some photo highlights of the month. Easter will be a separate post.

Meeting Liz Curtis Higgs. My sweet friend Amy M. took me to see her conference. We had such a good time! Liz is a great speaker, sharing her personal story and weaving Biblibal truth with humor. She's one of my favorite authors especially the Thorn in my Heart, Fair is the Rose, and Whence Came a Prince series.

Lauren & Claire's Cake
Lauren wanted Super Why! for her birthday theme. This cake took me about 3-4 hours to make (time has passed and the memory has grown fuzzy). I mostly used toothpicks to get the icing where I wanted it. Tyler got the images below so we could make our own invitations (see poem below), and I used the pics to use for my decorating.

This was the poem that I came up with for her invitation:
Once upon a time in a land not far away
Lived two little girls who loved make believe play
Ballerinas and fairies, princesses galore
The super readers from Super Why! Are their favorite four
Come on an adventure we will laugh and play
The girls will be one and three on their special day
Peas and carrots, carrots and peas
Come to our birthday party, please please please!
